Book excerpt: In dieser Arbeit wurde die Filmströmung auf horizontalen Rohren und ihr Einfluss auf das Kristallisationsfouling in Rieselfilmverdampfern zur Meerwasserentsalzung eingehend untersucht. Darüber hinaus wurden die Auswirkungen zweier nicht-ionischer, oberflächenaktiver Substanzen auf einen Fallfilm detailliert beleuchtet. Die ausgewählten Block-Copolymere wurden umfassend hinsichtlich ihrer Oberflächenaktivität analysiert und gegenübergestellt. In einem eigens konstruierten Versuchsstand wurde erstmalig die axiale Flüssigkeitsausbreitung auf einem horizontalen Rohr bei der initialen Benetzung der Oberfläche untersucht. Ein weiterer neu entwickelter Versuchsaufbau ermöglichte es, die Flüssigkeitsfilmdicke entlang und um den Umfang eines horizontalen Rohres mittels eines Lichtbandmikrometers zu messen. Eine komplexe Auswertungsmethodik wurde entwickelt, um zusätzlich die Wellenbildung auf dem Film anhand des Frequenzspektrums zu analysieren. Ein Rieselfilmverdampfer im Technikumsmaßstab diente dazu, Untersuchungen hinsichtlich des Kristallisationsfoulings unter praxisnahen Bedingungen durchzuführen. Die lokale Kristallschichtdicke und spezifische Belagmenge auf den horizontalen Rohren wurden in einer umfassenden Parameterstudie bestimmt. Die Flüssigkeitsfilmdicke und die Wellenbewegung des Films haben einen signifikanten Einfluss auf die Belagbildung auf den Verdampferrohren. Der Zusammenhang zwischen der Filmströmung und dem Stofftransport der belagbildenden Salzionen zur Rohroberfläche ist dabei von entscheidender Bedeutung. Weitergehend konnten drastische Veränderungen der Filmströmung durch die oberflächenaktiven Substanzen ermittelt werden, die eine Verringerung des Kristallisationsfoulings bewirken können. Der Einfluss der oberflächenaktiven Substanzen auf die Filmströmung steht dabei im engen Zusammenhang mit ihrer Oberflächenaktivität und ihrem Adsorptionsverhalten.
